This winter Ellen will be offering workshops at Stampadoodle and at Northwest Freedom University on the campus at Western Washington University.

Northwest Freedom University

To register for classes you can contact Northwest Freedom University or Michael's Books in Bellingham. Classes are $13 ($12 for students) plus the instructor's fees and materials fees listed below. Inquire at NW Freedom U or at Michaels for discounts when two people sign up for any two NWFU classes.

Saturday, January 31: 12 noon - 5pm
Bookbinding - Leather Photo Albums: Create a contemporary version of the classic photo album. Choosing white or black pages, students will contruct a book perfect for 4"x6" photographs while learning techniques for creating books of different sizes. The book will have a leather cover and 100% cotton acid-free paper. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring in any buttons (with holes, not shanks) that you may have.
Instructors fee: $12, Materials fee: $10
Saturday, February 7 - 2pm - 6pm Note! This is a change from the originally scheduled time!
Bookbinding - Soft-cover journals: Learn to sew beautiful journals with paper covers perfect for gift giving. Students will have an opportunity to construct several journals with a variety of closures, which open flat. Students will learn to sew the book together choosing from several stitches that are both decorative and structural. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring in any sheets of hand-made or thick paper that you may have.
Instructors fee: $12, Materials fee: $5
Saturday, February 28 - noon - 5pm
Bookbinding - Leather Journals: Construct a journal perfect for writing and drawing wich closes with a button or strap for travel. Students will construct a book choosing from several stitches that are both decorative and structural. The book will have a leather cover and 100% cotton acid-free paper. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring any buttons (with holes, not shanks) that you may have.
Instructors fee: $12, Materials fee: $7

Bookbinding - Hardcover Journals: Create your own beautiful hardcover journal for writing or drawing. Design and construct a book that has decorative paper covers and a book-cloth spine. The pages of these books are sewn in directly through the spine with silk, forming a colorful pattern that we'll help you design. We'll use 100% cotton Arches Text Wove - a fine calligraphy paper perfect for drawing in pen and ink or pencil.
Fee: $40
Saturday, March 27: 12 noon - 5pm
